Surgery is often an avenue that patients and their doctors pursue in light of serious changes in their daily lives due to pain and dysfunction. From total joint replacements to ligamentous injuries, oftentimes your surgeon will assign physical therapy as part of your recovery and rehabilitation back into your normal routines. Your rehab is just as important as the surgery itself, and you shouldn't have to compromise high-quality care for quick results.
Here are a few reasons you should choose RTC for your Post-op recovery:
1. Completely one-on-one care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy
We pride ourselves in providing care to our patients completely one-on-one! Having the space to provide a full 60 minutes completely dedicated to you and your care allows our therapists and you to develop a unique and individualized treatment plan based on your surgery, protocol, and goals.
In comparison, competing clinics often break up your visit. You'll start with the Physical Therapist, have a general conversation about your progress, and then work with a Physical Therapist Assistant to complete your exercises. Oftentimes you won't have the same team treating you at every visit, and might be completing exercises toward the end of your care independently while your therapist helps another patient.
2. Evidence-Based Care with Clinical Expertise
With more innovative approaches to joint replacements and other surgeries, RTC's therapists keep up to date with local and national trends, implementing best practice principles into their treatment. Our therapists all have diverse clinical experience, from previous work in acute care to specialty certifications, our team is prepared to rehab patients with confidence.
Combining clinical experience with evidence-based care allows therapists to draw upon all areas to keep care patient-centered and achieve the best results. We also make an effort to build rapport with surgeons in the area so we are familiar with their protocols and instructions.
3. Flexible Scheduling
Most of the time, your surgeon will assign a general PT order for 2-3 times a week after your surgery. We can see post-op patients up to three times a week at the start of your rehab, and as you progress and become confident in your routine, reduce the frequency of visits that meet your schedule. We also make an effort to assign just one therapist to your care, so that way there is consistent carryover and ease of care.
In addition, our team is always collaborating with other therapists should the need arise. If a patient could benefit from another approach or might want to try a select treatment only performed by another therapist, we can accommodate! An example of this is if your primary PT is rehabing a patient in the mid to late stage of rehab and thinks that you could benefit from dry needling offered by certified therapists, we can put you on their schedule for a session and then continue care from there.
Conclusion
We know that any major musculoskeletal surgery can be a stressful time in your life. At RTC, we are providing high-quality, evidence-based care in collaboration with local surgeons allowing our patients to thrive. Since we strive to be intentional about our treatment approaches as well as build a strong rapport, patients often have a faster recovery from their surgery!
